Katie May Anderson is a freelance textile artist and creative educator, originally from East London and now based in Glasgow. Her practice centres on community engagement and she collaborates with diverse groups across the UK and brings arts participation into heritage and social projects. â€‹

Her work is rooted in engagement with materiality, memory, and collaboration. Central to her practice is a belief in the connective power of textiles: they serve as a bridge between personal memory and collective identity, past and present, maker and audience. Through collaborative material processes, she aims to transform heritage from static objects in archives or historic spaces into living dialogues where participants are not passive recipients but active agents in shaping meaning.

Her role as an educator includes facilitating workshops, mentoring emerging makers, and leading community co-creation. Her deep interest in materials, personal narrative, and shared creative experiences shape both her artistic output and her engagement practice.
